Biography:
Carrie White, a fictional character, first appeared in Stephen King's 1974 horror novel, *Carrie*. She is best known from the 1976 film adaptation, *Carrie*, directed by Brian De Palma and starring Sissy Spacek.
Carrie is a teenage girl with telekinetic powers who is relentlessly bullied by her classmates. She lives with her abusive and religiously fanatical mother, Margaret White.
The film culminates in a horrific prom night where, after being crowned prom queen, Carrie is humiliated by a cruel prank. Unleashing her telekinetic abilities, she destroys the gym and kills many of her tormentors. Ultimately, Carrie is killed by her mother before she can cause further destruction.
The character has been portrayed by various actresses in subsequent film and television adaptations of King's novel, cementing her place as an iconic figure in the horror genre.
